Compassionate care
Our caregivers work alongside our veterinarian, providing regular health checks and urgent care on the farm.
Our story
Over 200 acres of pasture and forest on Manitoulin Island. A forever home built around the needs of every individual.

Meet our founder
Ali Valentine founded GLO Farm Sanctuary in 2015 after volunteering at another sanctuary and seeing the need for lifelong care for rescued farmed animals.
She moved from the city to a rural property where GLO’s first residents — four senior cattle — arrived. Patricia was one of them.
In the fall of 2022, GLO moved to Manitoulin Island. Our community of staff, volunteers and supporters helps make compassionate care possible, every single day.
Care for the whole individual
Cows, horses, goats, sheep, pigs, ducks, chickens and a peacock — each with their own needs, friendships and personality.
Our caregivers work alongside our veterinarian, providing regular health checks and urgent care on the farm.
In-house blood work, ultrasound and mobile X-ray capabilities help us care for older and medically fragile residents.
We care for physical, emotional and social wellbeing, respecting each animal as an individual throughout their life.
Our work is guided by ethical veganism, anti-speciesism and the standards of the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries. Learn about GFAS.
